You Can’t Keep Jesus Inside – He Just Overflows Out Of You

This morning we set up our banner, chairs and kneeler pads in town for a two hour session doing Healing On The Streets.   healing on the streets logo

busker on the street playing guitar     I noticed a busker with long hair playing pretty fancy guitar stuff nearby. When he took a break I wandered over to chat with him. I complimented him on his playing; he said he’d been doing it some 30 years. I showed him our leaflet that explains what we do. He told me he had back pain and shoulder pain. I told him about the guy I laid hands on yesterday and how his pain had gone. I pointed to our chairs and invited him to sit and be prayed for. He said OK, packed up his music gear and collecting sheet with his money and joined me. I invited a lady team member to join us.

We laid hands on him and brought him to Jesus. I asked how he was feeling now and he said: “I feel really good!” His back and shoulder felt much improved. I suggested he stand up and give it a workout. He said: “I’d better not; I think I might fall over if I did!” The lady with me gave him a few words from the Lord that he could relate to. He took my website card and a Mark’s Gospel I had in my back pocket.

Thank you Lord that you’re always ready, willing and able!

Evangelism: the more you do it the more you want to do it!

oh no, not evangelism After a hectic weekend sharing Jesus with dozens of County Show visitors who came to our Christian Witness Tent (we offered free refreshments and a seat to rest), I was getting withdrawal symptoms a few days later.

I decided to get the bus into the next town (free, as I’m a Senior Citizen!). I went into the local park and noticed a woman writing on a park bench. Was it a suicide note – who knows? So I went and sat next to her and saw it was some kind of application form. She said hello and kept writing. After she left, I wandered back to the town centre, bought a snack and sat on a bench on the main street. On the bench were a holdall and a flask, but no-one with them. As I ate my snack the owner turned up. I chatted and discovered he was doing some painting nearby and was having a break while the paint dried.

I said to him “I’ve been looking after your belongings for you”. He replied: “God bless you!” I replied “He does!” He clearly wasn’t expecting that, so said “what did you say?” I explained I was a Christian and that God DID bless me all the time.

I asked if he was a man of faith. He replied, very honestly: “only when I’m desperate!” I gave him a Journey Into Life booklet and said: “the next time you’re desperate, have a read of this.” He thanked me and I left him to enjoy his break – tasty looking soup, to which he added  a load of pepper from a shaker he carried with him.   soup in a cup

Praying For The City

Two of us went on the streets today, praying around the city. We went to the Court Buildings, the Cathedral, the City Council Building and the prison.   scales of justice

My companion  picked up a Polish gospel tract as he came out this morning. Sure enough, we met a man walking his dog – he was Polish. His right hand was bandaged, damaged two days ago in an accident. We offered to pray for his hand, so while I did that my companion played with the guy’s dog. When I lapsed into praying in tongues, the Polish man said “I recognise that language” I said “what is it?” He replied “it’s Italian” I knew it wasn’t so I said: “no, it’s a heavenly language, not Italian”. After we prayed for him, we gave him the Polish tract and invited him to read it.

We carried on round the city, shedding a few tears as we prayed for those in power and authority over us, that justice and righteousness might prevail.

Sharing The Life of Jesus In The City

I went out with our Healing Team this morning and had several encounters.    christian cross in gold colour

One lady sat down for prayer. She had recently had her application for ministry training in the church rejected. She was feeling rather confused and uncertain, but was adamant she wanted God’s will for her life. I told her she was on the home straight already; wanting God’s will for your life is the best mindset to be in!  We prayed and she went away with, I think,  some hope in her heart.

As elderly gentleman came along, carrying several bags of shopping. It turned out he was 91! He said he was suffering from glaucoma and cataracts. He was a Christian, so we talked about Jesus ministry of healing and how he never turned anyone away. We laid hands on him and asked how he felt. His reply was : “I feel strengthened!”

I noticed a woman taking one of our leaflets and soon afterwards coming back in my direction. I stopped her and we had a chat. She looked like, and turned out to be, an amazing woman. She had so many unusual experiences since childhood, it was clear she was one of a kind.  She was a Christian, but admitted she’d been in some dark places over the years. After a long chat I asked her if she’d like prayer. She said she would, so myself and a lady team member knelt and ministered to her. We both were able to give her words from the Lord, many of which which she felt were right on the mark – and encouraging to her too.

A Jewish man I know, who has rather droppped out of normal society after life problems affected him badly,  came by. I had given him one of my website cards that week. He pushed a piece of paper into my hand and walked off. I opened it and it was a scriptural response to the wording on my card. Unsurprisingly, he disagreed with the words of Jesus I had got printed on the card. He is a very intelligent guy and knows the Jewish scriptures inside out, so a bit of challenge in many ways!.

Healing On The Streets Today With Mark Marx

Mark Marx, founder of Healing On The Streets, joined us today in our town centre as we ministered healing and freedom to the captives.   photo of Mark Marx

One lady he ministered to had a spirit cast out of her life. I got chatting to another woman about God’s love and presence. She then told me she was a Spiritualist. I gave her my card and invited her to contact me, as I knew a Scottish lady called Laura Maxwell who had been a Spiritualist and had an amazing story to tell. The woman said she’d get in touch with me, so hope she does.

An old Welsh lady stopped and asked for prayer. Her husband had died 9 months previously and she was missing him. She told us she had been a Pentecostalist in the past. She also told us she had a large box at home     photo of General William Boothwhich showed that General Wm Booth, founder of the Salvation Army was a member of her family tree!  After a chat the old woman said, quite out of the blue, “I want to give my heart to Jesus!” From what she had previously said, I’m sure she had before. Nevertheless, I wasn’t going to put her off! I said:”do you want to pray in your own words, or do you want to follow me?” She chose the latter, so I slowly led her in a prayer of repentance and surrender to Jesus. It was lovely!

Just before we finished on the street for the day, a guy in his late 20’s/early 30’s came over for prayer. We asked what he wanted prayer for. He replied: “it’s an illness, but I don’t want to say anything about it”. We offered our best prayers up to a loving God who doesn’t condemn or judge us on the way.  We spoke life and health and healing to his blood, bones, organs, muscles, tendons and sinews in Jesus’ name. The guy semeed to appreciate it and as he left said he was feeling a bit better. I encouraged him to thank Jesus as he went, for what He was doing in his body.

After our time on the streets we went back to a local church for lunch, a time of worship and a talk from Mark Marx. As we worshipped, the Holy Spirit came upon me powerfully and I felt that Jesus was pouring into me a double portion of  what I had given out on the streets earlier. What a wonderful God! The day ended with a time of in-church ministry where several folk received healings. One lady’s left leg grew out several inches as I was watching above the leg as it took place. I took photos of the leg “before” and “after”. These are they: (click photos for larger version)

70 Homeless/Drug Addicts/Street Drinkers Coming To Our Christmas Meal

On Wednesday this week we’ll be giving our annual Christmas lunch and individual Christmas hampers to 7o homeless/drug addicts/street drinkers. We’ll have carols too, but the solos from the floor (and sometimes from the mic) are always the highlight, as you can imagine! old man with beer can

It’s always pretty chaotic, but they love it and appreciate what we do. God bless them – every one! Each year a few  are missing because they’ve died of their addiction, gone back to prison or, in one case, been found floating in the canal. New folk have since arrived, so will take their place. We always give a short gospel message or testimony to make the folk think. It might be the last gospel message they hear this side of the grave.

Does God Heal Today?

MARKET STALL PHOTO  We had a Christmas outreach market stall on Saturday.  During my time there I prayed for a homeless guy, a non-Christian. He recognised (without any pressure from me) that he had bad things going on in his life and was agreeable to give them to Jesus. I told him to imagine Jesus standing there in front of him, with his (Jesus’) arms open to receive his bad stuff. I asked my guy to hold out his arms and give it to Jesus. He did. We prayed and afterwards he said how much better he felt, having passed these things on. Amazing, really! I love the street guys and women – they’re very WYSIWYG.

Later, a rather timid Christian lady we know came to see us. The last time I saw her was around 2 months ago, when I prayed for her in a church about problems she had with her heels, causing her pain and making walking difficult. I’d had no feedback afterwards, until today when she said: “after you prayed for me that time I got healed, and I’ve been fine ever since” Isn’t Jesus wonderful?

A couple of stalls away from ours, was a stand run by a guy who managed a large out of town venue with snooker and a large hall for shows, etc. I noticed he had a poster displayed for a psychic medium show. I chatted to him about spiritualism photo of medium with crystal balland the spirits behind it all. I gave him a full explanation and he clearly had no idea what was involved. He was quite taken aback when I told him about the demonic spirits involved in it. I gave him and the woman with him (the venue owner’s wife) my website card and invited them to contact me. I could then direct them to detailed warnings from people who had been involved in it and got out of it, but not without a struggle!
