I Asked God To Use Me – And He Did

God Please Use Me  On the way into work I again asked God to use me, that it might be His Spirit at work – “thy will be done” – and not me striving in my own strength to accomplish things.

During my volunteer duty, in the background I heard a client say they had a leg problem. It turned out to be a lad of about 18, who had suffered problems with his left knee for about 4 years. The medics had not been able to cure his condition to date. I told him I’d seen lots of knee problems healed, and asked if he wanted me to pray for him. He was happy to give it a go, so I told him Jesus was the one who healed. I asked if he knew about Jesus of the Bible. He said he had been a Christian when younger, but had drifted away.

I laid hands on the knee, saying:”Father I thank you for Jesus. Jesus I thank you that you are the one who heals, and that you love this man and are drawing him back to yourself.” I spoke out healing, commanding the muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints and nerves to be healed in Jesus’ name. I spoke life and strength to the knee in Jesus’ name. Afterwards I asked him how the knee was. He checked it out and reported: “No change, it’s exactly the same.”

From experience I’ve learned that you keep on pressing in until results start coming. This of course is dependent on the person being agreeable to you continuing. I illustrated this to the guy: “suppose you had an infection, went to the doctor and he gave you tablets to take, two a day for fourteen days. If you took two the first day and threw the rest away, that would be silly, wouldn’t it?” He agreed that would be pointless. I said: “praying for healing is similar; you keep on going with the treatment then you will see results”.

I prayed again, in a similar vein as before. This time I was aware of the Holy Spirit flowing in me in a fairly powerful way. I mention this because many times I pray and see people healed but feel nothing myself while it’s going on. I asked him for an update. He said he could feel something moving down his leg, plus a tingling feeling. I told him that was God at work. I could feel the power flowing for a couple of minutes and he could too. I then asked him to check it out. He walked up and down and reported a significant improvement. I laid hands on him one more time. He reckoned the leg was a good 40% better at the end.

lost sheep found by Jesus  I then told him the parable of Jesus where the shepherd left the 99 sheep on the hillside to go after the one that was lost. I said: “you’re the lost sheep, and God knew you’d be coming here today, so he planned this encounter to draw you back to Himself” He agreed that seemed quite a likely possibility. I gave him my card and asked him to let me know how he got on. I also gave him the gospel tract “No Satisfaction”.

There Is Power In The Name Of Jesus

image of painful knee  I heard the woman mention that her left knee had been operated on, but still caused her problems; significant pain and limited mobility. Her pain level on a scale 0 to 10, 10 being worst, was currently 8. I offered healing prayer and she accepted. After laying hands on the knee and commanding prayer in Jesus name she reported the pain had gone, except for a small niggle. Jesus dealt with that and she then confirmed she was not only pain free, but that her previous limited knee mobility was now vastly improved. I got her to walk up and down to fully test out the knee. I told her that I wasn’t the healer, but that Jesus was – he had  done it.

Amazingly, she then went on to disclose that strange things were happening in the house she had recently moved into. Items were moving about of their own accord, and her doorbell rang persistently at 3 o’clock that morning, but no-one was there. Her dogs were getting spooked and unhappy about something. A shadowy figure had also been seen, who looked like the previous occupant.

Without wishing to scare her too much, I suggested that she should approach a local clergyman in her district with a view to getting this dealt with. As well as healing the sick I told her that Jesus has power over all spirits and they have to obey when told to go. As she left I gave her a Christian tract called “No Satisfaction”. She looked at the front cover and said: “yes, that’s me!”. I glanced through another copy of the tract after she left and saw the words: “Jesus can set you free” Having experienced his healing power I pray she experiences the further freedom from the spirit affecting her house.

image of a manLater, a guy came in and he shared that he had drifted away from Christianity many years ago, despite previously being an ardent Christian. He had done some things he regretted and wanted to get back into Church, but didn’t know where to go. I suggested a particular church, but he was hesitant. I gave him my contact card and invited him to get in touch if he wanted to meet up and help to take things further.

Street Drinker Now Reading His Bible

lots of empty beer bottles I met an “old” street friend – only 43 – who has long had addiction problems due to alcohol abuse. He’s been in and out of rehab many times. He came  for food today and my heart really went out to him. He’s struggled and struggled to the extent that he’s been at rock bottom for some time. His body is totally wrecked. He told me today he’s died twice recently and been resuscitated. A lapsed cradle Catholic, he even went to Mass recently and confessed to the local priest. Unfortunately he still doesn’t have any peace. He acknowledged that Jesus is the only one who can help him. He says he is now down to 2 cans a day which, for him, is a massive reduction.  I told him I believed God has a purpose for his life and he agreed with that.

He has a Bible and is reading it every day. I told him to cry out to Jesus with his whole being as he reads it.  I offered to pray for  him and he gladly accepted. After that I felt prompted to pray in tongues for him and poured myself out in the spirit with a great deal of passion and urgency that surprised even me. He thanked me and went off with his food parcel

Another couple of guys came in, one leaning on a stick.  I thought: “I’ll check out the problem and offer to pray for his healing”.  man with walking stick

By then he was in conversation with another team member, so I asked his accompanying friend what the leg problem was. He said “it’s been amputated”. I knew I didn’t have Smith Wigglesworth’s level of faith for a brand new leg, so I dropped the healing thought immediately!

Surely All Religions Are The Same!

When sharing your faith, sooner or later some will say: “all religions are the same”. How do you respond?

One way to approach this scenario is to highlight the facts:

The founder of Buddhism is dead and still in his grave.     really, really, dead!

The founder of the Muslim faith is dead and still in his grave.    really, really, dead!

The founder of Confucianism is dead and still in his grave.     really, really, dead!

The founder of the Sikh faith is dead and still in his grave.     really, really, dead!

The founder of the Hindu faith is dead and still in his grave.     really, really, dead!

All followers of these religions will agree with the above facts.

However, according to the Bible and the experience of millions of Christians, Jesus Christ rose from the dead and is alive today.     definitely alive!

man at a crossroads wondering which way to go  Let’s assume you’re out on a hike. You come to a crossroads and you’re unsure which road to take. You notice there are two men by the side of the road. One is alive, the other is clearly dead. Which one would you ask for directions?

Jesus Christ is the living person at the crossroads who can tell you the right road to take.

In all other religions, man points and says: “This is the way to God!”. In the Bible Jesus Christ says:”I am the way to God!”

According to the Bible, Jesus claimed to be able to forgive sins, something only God can do.

Jesus also said: “I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father, except by me”

Healing Offered At Church

After the church service I came across a man with crutches. He had his foot smashed in an accident some years back and it caused him all sorts of trouble, including numbness and pain further up the leg and thigh area.

I offered healing in Jesus’ name and he was agreeable. I laid hands on his ankle area at his suggestion. After the first session of a minute or so, I asked him how it was. He said he was getting some feeling back into the nerves in the foot. He agreed that was a good sign. I prayed again, commanding healing in Jesus’ name again and for the pain to go. I asked for another update. He said “it feels like my foot is going to explode!” I said: “is that a good sign?” He answered: “I think it is.” His foot was in a soft cast support, with velcro fastenings. I suggested he loosened the straps to allow things to happen. I also suggested he keep thanking Jesus for the rest of the day.   We then had coffee and a doughnut.

Painful Bandaged Foot Treated by Jesus

conversation overheard   While chatting today about recent healings to a colleague, I noticed a client listening with interest to what was being said. I said to her: “do you have any pain?” She said she had a damaged foot and was in quite a lot of pain. On a scale of 0 to 10 she said it was an 8, so pretty painful.   foot with bandage on it

She was agreeable to prayer for healing, so I encouraged her with a story from last week when the man’s liver pain dramatically disappeared. It ended up with three of us laying hands upon her and taking authority over the pain. I then asked her to get up and test it out. She said it was now about a 3. I offered to pray again, to get it down to zero, but with a shy smile she said: “no, that’s OK thanks” and left with her bags of food. I encouraged her to keep thanking Jesus for what he was doing and then see the pain go completely.

Training for Christian Healing and Discipleship

amazing    God is doing something amazing today. For far too long, Christians have been sitting in the church waiting to find “their ministry”, or for the Spirit to give them a revelation of their special task.  I’ve been guilty myself, even handing out “spiritual gifts questionnaires” for folk to fill in to find their “ministry”. The good news is that God is revealing the truth that we all have the same ministry. That ministry is the only one that Jesus ever commissioned his followers to carry out, namely: “preach the gospel of the Kingdom and repentance from sin, heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead”. If your ministry aspirations are other than that, they’re not the ones that Jesus commanded you to obey in His word. Perhaps you’re basing your plans on the “traditions of the elders”. If you don’t agree, then take it up with Jesus. Some words of Jesus from John’s gospel:  bible verse john14:24

John 14:15: “If you love me, you will obey what I command.”

John 14:21: “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.”

John 14:23: “Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching.””

John 14:24: “He who does not love me will not obey my teaching.”

Some Churchgoers have been more active, running from speaker to speaker seeking “that new anointing” that will enable them to do great things for God. The fact is that we aready have all the anointing we need from Christ, aka “the Anointed One”.  If you want to do the works of Jesus you need His anointing aka the Holy Spirit; there isn’t any other in reality. Also, to do the works of Jesus you need to walk out of the church building, be obedient and do what Jesus had already commanded his disciples to do. As you go out in obedience and faithfulness, he will equip you.

Jesus rightly condemned the Pharisees for their slavish adherence to “Tradition”. We have been just as guilty, following our own traditions that – ultimately – have evidenced little true discipleship, and even less fruit.

So if you want to get started in Christian healing you need to start by doing it.

Below are some really great links to get you started.

Dr Roger Sapp explains clearly how Jesus is the model for us to follow in ministering healing:

Torben Sondergard will encourage you to get out and do healing:
